Fall Mini-Mini Sessions are here!!!

I know you have all been anxiously awaiting and I am now happy to say that the fall mini mini sessions dates have been announced!

I always, always, always tell myself I am not going to work after such and such date, so I can enjoy the season and not become a permanent attachment to my computer. My poor kids! The only bad thing is that I always, always, always, work past that date and end up actually working so long that the holidays pass me by, and I end up getting sick :(

So this year, here are my dates, I will not be taking any sessions after the 10th of December and guaranteeing them by Christmas. I will however be booking sessions up until the 17th However keep in mind that sessions booked after 12/10/11 will not receive their pictures until after the holiday, and will also pay regular session pricing.

Okay with that said, I am only one person, and I hate having to turn people away, especially when I know they just really want a cute family picture for holiday cards or gifts.

My Solution??? The mini mini session!!!

Why you ask, are the sessions more expensive the closer it gets to the holidays? It's because I am having to dedicate ALL of my time and energy to getting your pictures back to you, in time for these beautiful cards and gifts to be sent out!

The November and December Sessions need to be paid in advance, at your time of booking to hold your date and time. I now accept debit and credit cards, paypal, checks and cash. I will reserve your date through email and if payment is not received within

10-14 days, I will re-open the date and time.

Session includes 15 minute session, edited pictures on a disk (no set limit, on images on your disk, if we are able to get several great poses, you will receive them all, it's hard for me to pick and choose, so I don't expect you to).

You can add 50 holiday cards with envelopes designed with your family picture for only $35, when you purchase at the time of your session.

Sessions will be every 15 minutes starting at 10am going until 6:30pm

My sweet little nephew is here!!! I just love this little guy so much! I can't wait to take pictures and pictures and pictures of him!!!! Here are a few of my fav's!!!

Now before all you concerned mothers send me your hate mail about how you are supposed to support an infants head and neck don't worry mama's hands are right there supporting it, I just use my "magic" so you don't see my "behind the scenes" staging :)

This little guy was the cutest thing. So mild tempered, and had the most beautiful skin!!! He decided on the day that I came for pictures that he was going to have a growth spurt and want to eat every time we disturbed him, and what babies want---babies get!!!! One thing I do with my Newborn Sessions is allow a lot of down time for the baby to be fed, changed, calmed and SPOILED!!! We are the bad guys coming in and interrupting their sleep and schedule, so I let them throw as many fits as they want :) But because of that we get awesome pictures like these!!!! Thanks Dubois Family for letting me be apart of such a special time in your lives!!!!

She was only 6 days old and so cute, fresh and new. You forget how tiny they are when yours are now 3 and 5 years old. I absolutely love newborn sessions. A lot of photographers get stressed and don't like to do them, and I absolutely love it, and would be perfectly content if I only photographed newborns forever. However I love the variety because I love every age and stage of children they are just so sweet and innocent and they are only little for what feels like a blink of an eye!

Little Miss Kaitlyn, was such a good little girl and everytime I said, okay now she is not going to like this tutu, or most babies wake up when I put them in the tea cup... she wanted to prove me wrong and was a complete angel the whole time!

Isn't this the cutest hat!! My sister in law makes such adorable hats! I have had her make me several for photography props, and I love them...Don't worry you can order your own, they are too cute not to have one!!!

Do you ever see so those pregnant ladies that look so cute, because the only way you can tell they are pregnant is because of their little basketball belly poking through their shirt? Boy was I disappointed when during both my pregnancies I failed to ever reach the "cute" point!!! My sister in law is one of those cute preggers....I can't wait to meet her new little boy, in only one month!!!

My Brother in law was such a good sport, he already thinks I am weird so this just gave him more ammo to use against me! That's okay though he was pretty much laughing at me the whole time so I got a natural smile!!! Thanks again for a fun session, and Preston was such a trooper, other than him shivering and his little red nose, you would have never guessed how freezing cold it was outside!! He did awesome, a lot of kids would have thrown a few tantrums and shed a few tears, including my own :)

The Do’s and Don’ts of Stealing Images From Your Photographer

I get asked a lot by both photographers and clients what my policy is on letting my clients post their images to their blogs and facebook account. I personally love it when my clients post their family pictures on their blogs, facebook, etc. It shows me that they truly love their images! I encourage my clients to “steal” their pictures from my blog to use on the internet. Here are a few do’s and don’ts that you should think about when reposting your images:

1) DO ask your photographer what their specific policy is on taking pictures off of their blogs. Some photographers encourage it and some don’t allow it. If this is important to you this is something you should ask BEFORE you hire your photographer!

2) DO include your photographer’s name and website under the images (a link would be super nice!). That’s just the polite thing to do

3) DON’T crop out their logo. Unless you have paid for the digital negatives don’t alter the files in anyway. Most photographers use their blogs to advertise their work and do so as a courtesy to give their clients a sneak peek. If a client crops out the logo then how will other people know who took the picture?

4) DON’T edit the picture in any way. Taking the pictures is only half of a photographers job. The other half is editing. If you think you can do a better job or want to edit out some of your wrinkles or use selective coloring please don’t show and/or tell your photographer. That is super insulting. If you don’t like your photographers editing enough to want to edit it yourself than maybe you need to find another photographer next year.

5) DON’T try to print from the files on the blog. For me specifically I know that the files I upload to my blog are too small to be printed in a 4×6 size. It’s not cool to invest in a family session and then print the images off of the blog and not pay for prints. Make sure you know how much the prints cost before the session to avoid sticker shock. Same goes for scanning prints that you already bought. Not cool!

If your like me you had to start thinking about the holidays a lot earlier this year, because of the financial crunch this economy has put on our bank account! I created the mini session and it is a hit with all, for this Holiday Season I created a Holiday mini session that seems to be just as popular! It's the same as the mini session that also includes 30 custom greeting cards with envelopes!! My last photo session date for the year is on 12/05/09 (with the exception of newborn sessions) this will give us both enough time to have your pictures ready in time for Christmas!

Sneak Peek for the Hansen Family

This was the first "cold" day of the season...and man oh man the wind was a blowin'. The Hansen family had an awesome neighbor who said we could come to their house and take some pictures, but the kids were more interested in exploring :) we headed out to another location, and with the light fading fast, cold weather, sleepy kids who weren't interested at all in getting their pictures taken, I was a little worried...I was so happy when I saw what turned out!!!!

I was thrilled when Lexi said that Doug was going to come along to her Bridals, so we could do his Groomals (yes, a real thing) and formals of them together!!! And I was even more thrilled when she said they wanted them taken at the Salt Flats!!! Although it is quite a drive from South Jordan, it is beautiful and unlike any other place I have seen and their pictures turned out gorgeous!!! The only downside, was the wind, oh the wind!!! Poor Lexi went and got her hair done, only to have the wind blow it every direction possible!!! She still looked gorgeous!!! I can't wait for their wedding next month!! They are the cutest couple together, and so fun!!! Doug is quite the comedian and always gives me pictures to laugh at, of course not useable for the occasion, but funny for them to have and laugh at together too!!! You know what I'm talking about Doug, one word---Hillbilly :)

They have a healing field close to my house. There is a US flag for each person that died that life changing day 09/11/2001. Everyone remembers where they were how they found out. It is a moment we will remember for all our lives! My husband my mom my kids and my two nieces all went down to the field, where there are lines and lines of flags it's beautiful. As I walked through the rows of flags I thought if each of the flags were replaced with a person, and I stopped and took it all in...as I looked to my left I saw the cutest little boy holding tight on to the flag pole...I couldn't help but snap a picture. His grandma was with him and said that he just loves flags!! He wasn't even alive when this tragedy happened. It was a burst of happiness that was brought to me seeing him there, dressed in red, white and blue, holding tight to the flag pole!!

I took this families pictures back in January when little Ayden was only 4 months old!!! I was thrilled when they asked me to take another family picture for them and take Ayden's 1 year old pictures!!! I was shocked!! He is not one already?!? This whole family has the most beautiful blue eyes, I am so in LoVe with them, they are so bright and fun!!! Ashtyn is the perfect example of what you would want your oldest child to be, he is so well behaved and such a big helper!!! They really do have such a cute family!! I love watching Ayden and Ashtyn's interactions together, cute brothers!!! Happy 1st Birthday Ayden!!!

Beautiful Alta Grace turned one years old!!! She has 3 very rough and tumble older brothers, and then their is Princess Alta, with the frilly tutu and beautiful accessories I LOVED IT!!! My favorite part of the whole shoot was at the very end, my favorite thing to do with all my one year old shoots for the willing parents, is to do cake smash pictures!!! This one was awesome, the pictures were taken on her actual birthday so we all gathered around, her mom lit the candle and we sang happy birthday to her, she though that was pretty neat, then Alta AND her brothers dug in to the cake!!!

I took Cali's big sister, Ashlin's, pictures in July, and now it was her turn!!! She is 2 years old!!! She doesn't act like a 2 year old she was very cooperative and sat still and did an amazing job!!! She is so beautiful, I love her eyes!!! Cali and her sister are going to break a lot of hearts someday, gorgeous girls!!! My favorite thing about Cali, is that she had this little nervous laugh, that made me laugh, I just wanted to squeeze her and give her a big love!!!

Isn't he so sweet?!?!? 8 day old Dexter was an angel for his first photo session!!! He was changed, fed and he was OUT!!! He was in such a deep sleep! We were able to do TWO teapot poses!! His mom and dad had done such a good job at preparing his room, it was just darling!!! pictures to come!!! Dexter's mom received a Kristen Spencer Photography Gift Certificate for her baby shower, what an awesome gift!!!

This photo shoot was fun!! Porter is 3 years old and he is hilarious, and so stinkin' cute!!! Me and the mom weren't feeling 100% and I thought we were going to have to reschedule, but I am glad we didn't these pictures couldn't have turned out better! This is such a cute family and I had a lot of fun at my new urban location, and I already have a few bookings for September using this location! more to come....

Tip: When shopping or deciding on what to wear in your families urban photo shoot, think bright fun colors. And NO ONE match!! Like this family, they all coordinate but they aren't matchy-matchy Layers and fun accessories really pull these pictures together!!!

My husband has been friends of the groom since Elementary School. And partially because of this friend are me and my husband married today!!! He was one of the group of friends that introduced us! I have a special place in my heart for sweet, tiny, Cozet. She was born 7 weeks early, due to her mom having complications with toxemia. I too had a baby born 10 weeks early due to pregnancy complications with toxemia. Not an easy sight to see, your new baby weighing just 2 lbs. and them having to stay in the hospital while you have been released home. But what is a gorgeous sight to see, is them finally in their own home, in their own bed, and best of all in your arms. Cozet is a beautiful baby girl, who has no complications and is a true miracle baby! I was honored to be able to do a session with her. She was 6 weeks old, and the size of an average newborn now. She has come a long way!!

This couple is so fun and cute together!!! I like most women know what it's like to have my significant other less than pleased about getting his picture taken. Well, Brandon was so supportive, and funny, and willing to do whatever I threw at him. I was a little nervous about this engagement session because Bonnie is a long lost cousin of mine that I haven't seen since I was 4 years old!!! Bonnie, thanks for letting me be the one to capture your engagement pictures! You have a beautiful family and I wish you the best with your life together!!

This little guy is so cute!!! He has so much hair that was so much fun to photograph! Mom and Dad were hoping for some sleepy baby shots, so they booked his appointment when he was 8 days old, which is perfect timing but this little guy had his own plan! He was awake through almost the entire shoot, and just dozed off here and there! He was so cute and such an awesome baby and didn't cry just gave a few squeeks! He is such a cutie! more to come...

Maccoy is no stranger to Kristen Spencer Photography, I have taken his pictures throughout his first year! He is such a cutie! I couldn't believe it when I saw him walking, wait--running, around!! He has the cutest personality, it felt more like we were playing the whole time instead of a formal photo session, which made for some great natural smiling pictures!!!! I can't wait to take their family pictures soon, and then his baby brother or baby sisters pictures in March, and his moms maternity pics too!!!! This is a gorgeous family!!! Happy 1st Birthday Maccoy!!!

Another sweet baby girl she was 3 months old and getting ready for her baby blessing. Her blessing dress is so special it was made from her grand-mothers wedding dress. And then her mom did the lace detailing around the sleeves. I wish I had talent like that, and what a great idea. Hopefully we will all only be wearing our wedding dresses once. And lets face it, our daughters are not going to want to wear our dress to get married in, what a fabulous idea to use the material to make it into a dress that they will wear! How very special.

Ashlin is such a sweet girl! She loves the camera and the camera loves her, so even though this was just a mini session we both got a little carried away because we were having fun! The second half of the poses she dressed in this fairy princess costume and I couldn't have been more thrilled for this!!! I love dress up and princesses and flowers and wings and glitter and glam and more than all those I love having a model that loves it too!!! Thanks Ashlin for a fun session!!! more to come...

This is my SWEET little niece who is turning 7!!! Time flies, I can't believe it!!! We made a date of our modeling session DATE! She is a complete natural and loves to pose for the camera!! The ONLY downside to the session was the heat...my GOSH the HEAT!!!!

TIP: During these hot summer months, I would suggest bring a water bottle to your session with you! It gets hot out there, and when younger kids are hot, they get ornery! Which makes parents stressed, and we want this to be a positive experience so your kids will cooperate for pictures in the future, not dread them!!!

This couple had me working for my money...working out that is :) They chose the most beautiful, hidden away location, and I am so glad they did!! This photo shoot was definitely filled with adventure, we saw a mommy and her baby duckys, a deer, about 30 feet away, who didn't run, just gazed longingly at me, and on the way down, a mommy dear with her little babies who were tiny and spots on their bum! :) We were attacked by mosquitos, collected pokey things all over our clothes, Miss Allison slipped off this mossy rock, and almost fell into the water, hiked for 30-45 min. in the blistering heat, attacked by more annoying flying bugs on the way back down the trail but it was definitely worth it!!! I know this because we were all smiling and laughing and at times squeeling and grunting :) the entire time!! These love birds will be married in September!! And they are absolutely PERFECT for each other!! More pictures of this couple, to come.

Today I had a newborn session that ALL photographers DREAM of... 8 day old, Baby 'W' was so calm, quiet and sleepy. Yes he kept mom and dad up for 7 hours the night before, BUT it made for a very,very, VERY awesome photo session!!! Here is a little peak, many more to come!!

Tip: to get the sleepy pictures of your newborn, schedule the session to take place when they are 10 days old and younger. They are still tired from labor, and learning how to live on the outside, that you can pretty much pose them, prop them, fold them :) however you would like!

This is the sweetest couple. Who is so in love and I wish them nothing but happiness in their future together!!! The bride has a great story to tell, for the rest of her life! They were married in the Draper Utah Temple. And during their ceremony the bride fainted!!! She was okay and didn't get hurt but I thought, wow, that will be a great story that you will forever be able to tell and all of your guests will remember your wedding forever :) Here are a few sneak peeks of the wedding day...
